Little Girls Alone in the Woods

By Morgan Rose. Performed by the HotHouse Theatre Launchpad Emerging Ensemble.

The 24/25 ensemble bring to life Morgan Rose’s Little Girls Alone in the Woods this July school holidays.

A contemporary, feminist fuelled retelling of The Bacchae – Euripides Greek tragedy in ode Dionysus, the Greek god of festivity and madness- Little Girls Alone in the Woods tells the story of a group of teenagers in a small country town, as they observe the mysterious disappearance of their female peers.

Orwellian in nature, the work reflects on the response that young people have to the multi-layered pressures of the world, from next week’s homework assignment to global conflict.

As an opportunity to further explore character motivation and themes of youth autonomy, peer pressure, gender norms and social expectations: the Launchpad present their own gritty rendition of this compelling work.
