The Mighty Murray River

The Mighty Murray is more than a river and state border, it is a place where people gather, share, and celebrate. You can indulge your love of the water, or just breathe in the fresh air and relax.

On the banks

The lush green banks of Noreuil Park offer a cooling oasis, as you stretch out sheltered by the ancient canopy of Murray River Red Gums. Take a refreshing splash in the river, play in the playground, or throw a line and catch yourself a famous Murray Cod. When the tummy rumbles hit, just grab a spot and unpack your picnic basket, or fire up one of the many barbeques. Stretch your legs on the recently opened Riverside Precinct with extensive pram and wheelchair-friendly boardwalks.

Wanting to spend a night on the banks of the Murray? Head to Richardson’s Bend for free riverside camping.

Riverside trails

The Wagirra Trail is a 23km looped trail following the gentle bends of the Murray River from Noreuil Park out and around Wonga Wetlands. Along a section of this trail, you can discover 15 sculptures created by local Aboriginal artists, on the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk. It’s an enchanting collection that tells Wiradjuri stories and speaks to the cultural significance of the Murray River.
