Unlike our northern friends, Albury Wodonga enjoys four distinct seasons. And that means the cold chills during winter! Enjoy the ultimate winter trip by combining adrenaline pumping snowsports with some sophisticated country hospitality in Albury Wodonga.
Falls Creek
Victoria’s largest ski resort, Falls Creek, is only a short drive south of Albury Wodonga and makes for a perfect winter wonderland. Whether you are keen to snuggle up in front of the fire with a mulled wine or exert yourself on the slopes; there is something to suit everybody’s winter holiday preference.
If hitting the slopes, Falls Creek boasts roughly 90 runs accessible by 14 lifts. The green, blue and black runs make it ‘progression perfect’ for those who are just beginning or those who are more experienced. Families can toboggan their way down designated slopes or slip and slide down the purpose-built snow tube park.

Mount Hotham
Hotham is a little further on and well worth the drive up the hill. It’s Australia’s highest alpine village where you can swap city life for crisp mountain air and some of Australia’s best alpine vistas.
Rather admire the beautiful scenery from the coziness of a well-padded chair? Well, you have loads of options. Local cafes and restaurants will ensure you are well hydrated and fed while you admire the landscapes barren beauty. And when you want a change of scenery, there is always retail therapy and indulgent massages to enjoy.
Let’s face it, skiing can be exhausting. After a few days on the slopes, take off the skis and enjoy some rest time on two feet instead. Albury Wodonga is the perfect location to base yourself with plenty to see and do locally.

Mount Buffalo
If skiing is not your speed, or just looking to enjoy some snow play with the kids, why not plan a trip to Mount Buffalo. Take a day trip from Albury Wodonga to Porepunkah, enjoy some tobogganing and the delights of the snowfield fun. Retreat from the mountain top into Bright, and have a cosy lunch and afternoon tea before heading back. Don’t forget your snow chains.
Getting here
