Murray Art Museum Albury invites you to join Cate Barlow for a Block Printing workshop in MAMA Studio.
Learn the foundations of block printing as you complete a number of prints and complete a project to take home.
Experienced hand-printer Cate Barlow will lead with theory and demonstration, before moving to a more hands on session. Students will learn how to print on various surfaces (including fabric, paper and hard surfaces like walls), before completing a project of their choice in the afternoon.
Students are encouraged to design their own printing blocks, but Cate’s blocks are also available for use. Printing projects for the day will include the either a cushion cover, tea towel, apron, pillowslip, or a fabric panel (for later use). Participants are welcome to bring their own item to print if they would prefer.
All materials are supplied, as well as resources to take home and continue your printing journey.
MAMA Studio comprises two separate workshop spaces located on the ground floor of the museum, and offers short courses, workshops, school holidays programs, and after school art classes for kids. The museum is open 363 days per year, with a year-round program of exhibitions for all ages.
