QEII Square is home to this year’s Summer Place project, ‘See the Forest’.

Summer Place is an experimental architecture project, held in the heart of Albury’s cultural precinct. This year’s project ‘See the Forest’ has been designed by Carly Martin of Akimbo Architecture.

See the Forest aims to connect the city centre to the river landscape around which the city developed. Bringing elements of the river landscape into QEII Square reminds us of the ways in which the river has brought people together for millennia. The softly curved form is a container that gathers a collection of large, locally harvested live edge timber slabs. The slabs are positioned vertically, maintaining their connection to the forest from which they came. The blackened timber board exterior is created from timber salvaged from the Black Summer bushfires. The pavilion aims to create discussions around the local environment, sustainability and the meaning of summer in the region.

While in QEII Square you can visit the Albury LibraryMuseum, Albury Entertainment Centre, and Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA). Public facilities and restaurant options are available.
Summer Place is open daily, except Christmas Day. 10am – 5pm weekdays, 10am – 4pm weekends & public holidays.
