On Stage: 50 Years of Rock in Pictures

Sun, 10th December 2023 -
Sun, 3rd March 2024

The heady days of rock and pop music in the 1960s and 1970s had a marked effect on society in the Western world. The influence of this music continues in the present day; it has entertained us and changed our thinking and lifestyle.

Although many of the artists have now sadly passed, their music lives on. So do the photographs of them, in action, doing what they loved.

Ian Hood and Paul Temple met in 1966 in the south-east of Melbourne. They greatly enjoyed the ‘new’ music and also had a common enjoyment of photography. In the early 1970s, they began photographing concerts that they attended as patrons. Eventually, this led them to supply images to media, promoters, and artists’ management.

On Stage celebrates rock and pop performers from the early 1970s to the present day through photography, mixed media, and personal mementos.
