Join in the fun of ‘Chromakinda’, a playful installation in our Kids Gallery. Artist Mikala Dwyer has created a space where children learn through play and performance. The fully immersive installation invites children and their carers to activate their imaginations.
There are costumes for adults and kids, stage curtains that allow for performances to open onto the street, custom lighting in the form of suspended orb-like sculptures, and chalkboard portals for drawing embedded in the psychedelic wall painting that encloses the space.
Continue your adventure through the museum with the Kids Activity Trail, perfect for families who love hide and seek, puzzles, and creative games. You’ll also discover five hidden installationsj in our Wonder Cupboards that have also been curated by Mikala Dwyer.
This lively new space encourages kids to stay and play in the Museum, and now forms part of our permanent program. A new artist will take over the space every year, creating new opportunities to play and learn through artist-led installations.
The Kids Gallery is one of seven permanent gallery spaces in the museum. The museum has something for everyone, with local, national and international artists represented across our diverse program. Open daily, free entry.
