The Bonegilla 75th Anniversary event will commemorate the ex-residents’ stories as well as food and entertainment that cultures who passed through here brought with them to enrich the Australia known today.
A range of activities will be on offer over eight days including tours, exclusive access to the original camp location, a chance to record your story, opening of the Bonegilla ID card exhibition, star gazing and viewing of paintings by migrants of Bonegilla Reception and Training Centre.
So whether Bonegilla was a starting point in Australia for you or your family, you want to learn more about Australia’s rich history, or meet some ex-residents and hear their stories. Come join in as they commemorate Bonegilla’s 75th anniversary since its opening.
Bone-gilla, Bon-ney-gilla, Bon-e-gilla, Bon-a-gilla – no matter how you pronounce it Bonegilla was a first ‘home’ for many and an important site for post-war migration in Australia.
