A Study in Nature by Alison Percy

Fri, 1st March 2024 -
Tue, 30th April 2024

A Study in Nature is an exhibition of new works by local artist Alison Percy which reflects her continued exploration into the landscape and passion for colour and line.

Rather than painting “en plein air’ (in the open air) Alison has created these works back in the studio, using sketches and note-taking from her time in the landscape. This allowed her to respond to what she has seen, felt and remembered, pushing her interpretation of landscape further towards abstraction through expressive mark-making.

In this close investigation of the landscape, Alison shows her fascination with the contradictory aspects of her observations within different environments such as the sense of harmony created by chaotic entanglements of shrubs, grasses and wildflowers.

Through cataclysmic events such as bushfires, Marg’s photograms harness the regenerative power of nature to show hope and optimism for the future.

Marg Leddin is a photographic artist who has practised creatively since the late 1970s. Marg is fascinated with tonal nuances that evolve through photographic image-making using found objects. As a body of work is built, themes and narratives emerge that anchor her photographs and photograms in time and place.
