A cast of three and a crew of two use song, live action and beautiful puppetry to bring Eric Hill’s beloved puppy to life on stage in this 40 minute production which builds on the book series’ focus on numeracy and literacy while also exploring important themes around friendship, family and relationships for young audiences.
Eric Hill’s Spot books remain iconic among generations of young children, their families and teachers. Millions of copies of the Spot books have been sold worldwide, including more than 10 million in Australia. Spot remains a much loved part of many Australian childhoods and classrooms, and is used widely within early childhood and lower primary school education.
CDP’s Australian team led by Director Darren Yap (Ladies Day, Miracle City, Miss Saigon) and Writer Tim McGarry (Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People, Snugglepot & Cuddlepie) will work with the international team behind previous adaptations to create a new, distinctly Australian production for children 2-5 years old and their families, with strong appeal to both education and family audiences.
