Getting a little warm?

Yep it’s hot…. really hot. But with some careful planning and these few helpful tips, the heat doesn’t need to force you into the confinement of your hotel room.

Tip one – get up early

I can feel you cringing already. Make the early rise enjoyable with a picnic breakfast in the lush Botanic Gardens or a leisurely pedal along the edge of the Murray River. With plenty of shade, you would almost fool yourself into thinking it will be a cool day.

Tip two – migrate indoors

Albury Wodonga has a vibrant cultural scene with plenty of it sheltered within air conditioned buildings. With ever changing exhibitions, beat the heat at Albury’s Murray Arts Museum (MAMA), the LibraryMuseum, Art Space or GIGS Studio. Or sit back and take in the latest flick at Albury Regent Cinema. Or ramp it up just a little with an indoor game of mini golf or Zone Laser Tag.

Want to enjoy the coolest place in Albury Wodonga right now? The Wodonga Ice Skating Rink will keep you sub-zero cool.

Tip three – stay hydrated

It won’t take long to pinpoint a local pub, club or cafe serving up ice cold drinks. Albury Brewhouse serves beer brewed onsite or grab a cold one at The Goods Shed. The Proprietor, Beanstation, Ebden and Olive, Bricklane and Canvas Eatery all bring the goods when it comes to cold juices, ice coffee/chocolates and cold brews.

If you are more inclined for an icy delight, grab an Italian gelato from Topolino or a traditional cone from Monumental or The River Deck.

Tip four – gravitate towards water

That may be dipping your toes in to the cool waters of the Murray river at Mungabarenna Reserve, or making a splash at one of the four local swim centres.

Tip five – shopping is your friend

If you don’t mind the quick dashes between stores, an afternoon spent shopping with keep you out of the worst of the heat.
