Active Play

Albury Wodonga is an aquatic sports heaven. Lake Hume offers the thrills and spills of water sports, whether you jet ski, water ski, windsurf or sail. Or just drop in a line for some great fishing.

You don’t require huge energy to paddle a canoe down the Murray River. It takes about three hours to paddle from the Water Works near Mungabareena to Noreuil Park, near Albury’s CBD.

Family-friendly swimming spots are also in ample supply. Visit the water slide at the Albury Swim Centre or cool off in Lake Hume - there are plenty of reserves arund its shores with shady trees, barbeques and amenities.

Scenic walking and cycling trails weave through the region. Take a leisurely ride along the Wagirra Trail beside the Murray River or the nearby High Country Rail Trail. Serious mountain bike riders can head to the undulating terrain of Nail Can Hill Reserve. Ask at the Albury Visitor Information Centre for the Albury Trails guide or download a map for a snapshot of what's on offer.

Challenge yourself with a round of golf. Hire some clubs and take a swing at one of the many great Murray River golf courses.

Albury Wodonga is the perfect base for heading to the snow, particularly Mt Hotham and Falls Creek. Regular bus services to the resorts operate during winter. Local ski shops provide packaged day trips, including ski gear and equipment hire.
