Corryong and Tallangatta

Immerse yourself in the high country life and uncover the legend of the iconic Man from Snowy River when you visit Corryong and surrounding towns.
You will be sure to find something to suit everyone, from the adventurous indivudal to the whole family.
Enjoy the scenic drive from Albury that follows the Murray River to Walwa across to Corryong, and then head back through beautiful valleys to Tallangatta and into Wodonga.
Corryong is a popular destination for those into rock climbing, rafting and horse riding, and its breathtaking natural environment is perfect for bushwalks, 4WD tours, cycling and fishing. Take a rafting tour and tackle the challenging rapids of the Murray River or relax with more gentle water activities like raft fishing and ‘family float’ trips.
In winter, the spectacular sight of snow-capped Mount Kosciuszko is a reminder that cross-country skiers can find snow within a half-hour drive.
For some unforgettable high country action, visit Corryong in April, when The Man from Snowy River Bush Festival is held. Watch a large field of riders perform incredible feats in the legendary The Man from Snowy River Challenge, wander through the open-air market and listen to storytellers, bands and folk singers.
Tallangatta’s distinctive 1950s architecture reminds us that, when Lake Hume was dammed in 1956, the town was moved 8km to the west and the site of the original town was flooded.
On the last weekend of October thousands of rock n’ roll enthusiasts from all over the country converge on Tallangatta for a non-stop rock n’ roll weekend. Wear your 50s gear and twist and groove all weekend. There are classic cars, motorcycles, non-stop rock n’ roll dancing, world-class entertainment, 50s fashion parades, busking, an art show, a market and so much more!
