Mile High Dragon Boat Championships

27/01/12 - 29/01/12
Dragon Boating is one of the fastest growing team water sports in Australia

As the highest dragon boat event in Australia, approximately 1600m above sea level, the altitude will challenge your fitness, the locals will befriend you and whether you win, lose or spectate, you'll have a great weekend!

Hundreds of paddlers and spectators will converge on the Rocky Valley foreshore for the Mile High Dragon Boat Championships. It is a very social weekend with lots of friendly rivalry and some fierce competition as the teams battle it out dragon head to dragon head.

Saturday night enjoy pre-race dinners and parties.

Sunday is race day, and the titles up for grabs include the “Victorian Mile High Champions”, “Pink Ribbon Champions”, “Mountain Champions”, “Men's Champions”, "Women's Champions", "Sport Club Champions" and ”Corporate Champions”. The winning team in each category is awarded with gold medals, and second and third place receive silver and bronze medals.

After the awards ceremony, it’s time to head back to the village for the official Dragon Boat After Party!

Haven’t paddled a dragon boat before? Don’t worry! On Saturday we provide all the necessary safety and skills training. The Victorian Dragon Boat Association will provide all training and equipment. All you need to do is get yourself a team together.

So get your social, sporting or work group together (20 paddlers and one drummer required) and join the high life in Falls Creek for a fun filled long weekend of dragon boating, Australia Day celebrations and parties.
