Audax Alpine Classic
The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in riding at your own pace to finish within the time limit. The Audax Alpine Classic is the toughest non-competitive mass ride in Australia.
The rides of various distances start in the lush Alpine Shire town of Bright. Depending on the distance you choose to ride, the routes includes areas such as Mt Beauty, Mt Buffalo, Falls Creek and Omeo. Distances are:
- 60km
- 70km
- 130km
- 140km
- 200km
- 250km
Difficult yes, but very rewarding. The rides difficulty is not just because of the degree of climbing but also because of the variations of the Alpine climate. You will need to be reasonably fit.
This ride attracts cyclists from all levels of fitness and experience. While some of cycling's elite have failed, many middle aged and beyond with minimal experience have succeeded. Mental and physical preparation and a 'pace yourself' approach is important.
The Audax Alpine Classic is proud to have the Oncology Children's Foundation (OCF) as our Official Charity Partner. Don't just ride in the “Classic”, stand out from the pack and become an OCF fundraiser. Your support will help OCF find cures for childhood cancers!
